Patty and John Stockwell opened El Toro in Gainesville in 1990 with one simple idea: make every guest feel like family. Nearly 35 years later, that hasn't changed a bit.
How We Started
In 1990, Patty and John Stockwell opened El Toro in Gainesville with honest food, generous portions, and a genuine belief that a restaurant should feel like home.
Food Made Fresh, Every Time
Everything here is made to order — no shortcuts, no heat lamps. The portions are generous, and the tacos are, as regulars put it, the biggest they've ever seen.
Salsa Available for Delivery
Our housemade salsa stops conversations mid-bite, so we started selling it by the jar. Now you can get it delivered right to your door, same recipe, same fresh ingredients.
Finding Home in Alachua
In 2008, we moved from Gainesville to Rolling Oaks Plaza in Alachua. John calls it "a blessing" — the community welcomed us like we'd always been neighbors.
You're Always Welcome Here
Patty and John are here most days, the staff knows your name, and the table you like is probably open. Come on by — and Get Full at the Bull.
